Glad you asked! That's just to give you and the app a visual reference. It helps line up your foot in the same place consistently. And it helps us with calculating your foot size.
So, can you use A4 paper with the Wiivv app? Short answer: no. Currently, our computer vision software only accepts US letter paper. Using A4 paper would throw off how we calculate the size of your feet and make some potentially pretty uncomfortable insoles—we don't want that! Even though we don't support A4 paper (yet!), we admire its proportions :).
(Pro tip: After you fold the piece of paper, place it on the floor so the crease is slightly raised off the floor. When you put your foot on it, the paper will be nice and flat on the ground, unlike if you did it the other way around.)
